How To Unclog A Toilets

A clogged toilet can cause major inconvenience, but there are multiple ways to unclog a toilet:

 1. Baking Soda and Vinegar

Baking soda can help unclog a toilet. The mixture of vinegar and soda is an easy way to unblock the drain. Here’s what you have to do:

  • Take 1/3rd cup of baking.
  • Take 1/3 cup of vinegar.
  • Mix them.
  • And pour the mixture into the blocked drain.

You’ll hear a fizzing sound as the mixture will go down the drainage system. It helps in removing hair, plastic, etc., from the toilet. Another way to clear the clogged area is to pour vinegar and baking soda and then flush the toilet.

2. Epsom Salt

Similar to baking soda and vinegar, Epsom salt has a bubbling effect when poured down the drain. When poured, let the salt work for about 20 minutes and flush hot water to clean the clogged toilet.

3. Metal wire

A metal wire is usually used to unclog the drain. This wire is also termed as ‘drain snake’ by professional plumbers. If you don’t have a drain snake at your home, go for the next best option, a metal wire. An easy way to use this tool is to:

  • Put a wire into the drain.
  • Once it reaches the clog, wiggle it a little.
  • Repeat the procedure until the drain is unblocked.

4.  Water-resistant Vacuum

Using a vacuum is an innovative approach to clean clogged toilets.. Follow these steps, and you may be able to free yourself from a clogged toilet:

  • Take a wet and dry vacuum (not a regular one) and wrap a cloth around its mouth.
  • Remove the water from the toilet bowl using a vacuum cleaner.
  • Hold vacuum down the drain and turn it on.
  • This process can help in sucking blocked items out of the way.
  • Clean the vacuum.

5. Detergents

Detergents are used to clean the greasy elements. They are generally easily accessible at home; if your toilet ever gets blocked, use the detergent. Take 1/4th cup of detergent and pour it into the toilet bowl; then pour hot water into the bowl and start plunging. These steps can help get rid of greasy items blocking the drain, and for the remaining waste, get your gloves on and remove it.
